It’s horrible, Sydney. I feel for you and I hope you find this site supportive.
I was recently diagnosed with diverticulitis. I was surprised because I maintain a good diet with healthy non-processed foods. I managed to get it under control myself with an even stricter diet, Miralax, Diverticulitis tea and lots of fluids. I finally broke down and am scheduling with a lower GI specialist because it’s starting to flare up again. The pain is unbearable and I sleep with a heating pad. The ER or my Primary won’t give me any pain meds and they say to take Tylenol which doesn’t do much. This condition has me so depressed because I had no choice but to quit my job, I can’t go anywhere to socialize or be among friends and I can’t do my normal chores around my house. I live with my husband and he is doing everything to help but I feel so bad I can barely get out of bed. I’m worried that I’m going to atrophy completely without any activity. It makes me feel hopeless, depressed and the quality of life is in the gutter. This isn’t me at all. I feel for anyone going through this.
Hi DMABZ, sorry to hear about the tough time you’re having. It’s hard to give a view on diet as everyone is different so what works for one doesn’t always work for someone else. Try our food and symptoms diary which will help you understand patterns between your diet and when you suffer episodes which may or may not be linked.
Hi WATP, it’s so hard to cope when you don’t know what foods to blame. It appears to be more common than you’d think.
Hi all I am from Ayrshire in Scotland and was diagnosed 2 years ago . I suppose to some extent I have been lucky with no major flare ups and can eat a lot of foods others cannot. In saying that I get gut aches almost daily and bouts of being an olympic toilet runner. Again with this I am careful in what I eat but find todays good food could be next months bad food. Good to be able to chat here without all the background music of same posts over again and wish the group all the success
Hi Schewy Lass and welcome to the forum. You’re so right about Facebook! I’ve had the same experience with the NHS – treatment good, advice lacking. It’s hard to advise in fairness because everyone’s experience is very different but that should be addressed with more research. There’s more and more people suffering from this I’m afraid.
Hi Kadee and welcome to the forum. I hope you’re recovering well? Any tips for recovery?
That treatment sounds very familiar. I hope the antibiotics kick in soon for you and you recover quickly.
That all sounds horrible and very familiar, Cumanice. The liquid for two days approach can work well but it does leave you feeling very weak and feeble. The pain for me is always in the lower left abdominal region.
